We had another great trip to one of our favorite places in July. Wallowa Lake Oregon is where Ross' family has a cabin and every year the whole family, plus some extras, meet there for the Chief Joseph Days celebration. This year we had a fun ride up with a car full. Sarah's friend Crystal went with us, my sister Debbie had us deliver one of her sheepdog puppies to a family in Washington and we picked up an old friend of Ross' in Burley, Idaho (her family has a cabin there too). So with 8 people and two dogs (Lola went with too), we made the long drive up.
Every year the activities are pretty much the same, and that's the way we like it. We drove to La Grande, OR on Thursday. Friday, Ross had a couple of meetings in La Grande, so the rest of us drove to the lake and he came up later that day. We spent a little time on the lake with Ray's boat and all the kids. Friday night is the rodeo, which is always a fun time. I think everyone has a little cowboy in them. Saturday, starts early with the Shriners pancake breakfast and the parade. Then we rush off to the cabin to get ready to hit the lake.
We had a great time on the lake. Ray had is boat there so we took turns going from the boat to the beach. Both are tons of fun. We were so excited when Sarah got up on the water skis for the first time. She did a great job and stayed up for quite a while. Crystal almost got up too. If she hadn't hurt her ankle, she would have made it. Erin also gave skiing a try. She tried so hard she went down and kept holding on to the rope. She finally let go after getting a nose full of lake water. Oh yea, we gave her all the instructions she needed except one little thing. "If you fall... let go of the rope."
Sunday is the clean up and get ready to come home day. And then the long drive home. We never seem to leave early enough and end up getting home in the middle of the night. Next year we are planning on spending an entire week there. And maybe, just maybe, we will have our boat running and take it with us. Two boats are always better than one.
