Miss Utah Adventures

My next adventure for this summer was a new experience for me. Some friends and I (Melanie Hegewald, Nikki Barton and Tara Smith) spent a week in Salt Lake hostessing for the Miss Utah Pageant. Basically this means babysitting and shuttling the contestants around. We spent our time going back and forth from the hotel to the Capitol Theater. We were there to help the girls with what ever they needed for the pageant. I learned a lot about the pageant world.

Our girls were super cute and nice. There wasn't really any drama with them. All they wanted to do in their spare time was to hang out at the hotel and sleep. There were early mornings and late nights, news spots, media events, parties and lots of time just hanging around waiting.

My girls were Ashley Conley (Miss Salt Lake County), Ashley Kelson (Miss Magna) and Diana Brandon (Miss Spanish Fork). They were super cute and fun. Our girls did pretty well in the final night of competition Melanie had one girl (Taylor Williams) in the top 10 and Nikki had 2 (Celeste Wouden and Kayla Barclay). We had several others that won individual awards throughout the competition, including Miss Congeniality (Danielle Tremelling). And of course the most exciting was Miss Utah 2008 was Kayla Barclay (Nikki's girl).

All in all it was a fun week.
